BE YOURSELF BUT YOU CAN BE BETTER

Many a time, we find ourselves struggling with choosing a behavior to be known with and an achievement to be remembered for. When this happens, we find ourselves switching from one behavior to the other and changing our habits like DSTV channels. Today you are Don Jazzy and the next day you become Desmond Elliot. This a behavior every human is born with, it is like a pre-installed program. You see a friend with an attractive attitude and you are already feeling like you were him.

Not minding its almost impossible to avoid this trend, our superiors and wise men never stop ringing the usual saying of PLEASE BE YOURSELF. They see you struggling to make changes and tell you to be yourself not minding whether you are changing for the better or the worst. And the bad part is that most people then take this statement so seriously that they don't even want to take a break and take a quick look at their attitudes to see what has not being going properly that need to be changed, which makes them remain same way and never make changes.
There is nothing wrong in the statement "be yourself" but  so many wrongs in how it is applied in most cases. Be yourself but please learn to learn from others around you and see how you can modify something about yourself. for example
==Your friend is a good speaker, you can also learn to speak well. Do not say you were born shy.
== Your friend has good public manners, you can also learn from him. Do not say, "That is his behaviour, I love my bad manners, I want to be myself."  With this, You will never grow.
With this, we now understand that being yourself goes beyond being you, maintaining your identity, but requires you to get hints from the life of other people around you on how to be a better you, so that you finally have a unique you and an achievement to be remembered for.

SLEEP ; NOT JUST WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE.

AN AVERAGE HUMAN BEING SPENDS ONE-THIRD HIS LIFETIME SLEEPING.

THE HUMAN  IS  SAID TO BE THE MOST COMPLICATED BEING ON EARTH, LITTLE WONDER THE CREATOR  MADE THE  NECESSARY  DECISION OF CREATING MAN ON THE SIXTH DAY AFTER ALL OTHER CREATURES WERE MADE, AND WITH HIS UNENDING LOVE AND GENEROSITY MADE MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE AND LIKENESS.
SLEEP, ANOTHER IMPORTANT CONCEPT FOR THIS PURPOSE IS A NATURALLY RECURRING STATE OF MIND CHARACTERIZED BY ALTERED CONSCIOUSNESS, RELATIVELY INHIBITED SENSORY ACTIVITY, INHIBITION OF NEARLY ALL VOLUNTARY MUSCLES AND REDUCED INTERACTION WITH SURROUNDINGS. THIS IS SIMPLY DIFFERENTIATED FROM BEING AWAKE i.e WAKEFULNESS BY A DECREASED RESPONSE TO STIMULI.
DURING SLEEP, THE ACTIVITIES OF THE BODY SLOWS DOWN; THE BODY TEMPERATURE, HEART BEAT RATE, BREATHING RATE AND ENERGY USAGE ALL DECREASE. THESE ACTIVITIES WHICH GO ON IN OUR BODY WHILE WE ARE AWAKE ALSO CONTINUES ITS PROCESS WHILE WE LAY OUR HEADS TO SLEEP, THOUGH THIS TIME AROUND WITH A DECREASED LEVEL WHICH EXPLAINS THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP TO HUMAN BEINGS. IF THERE WAS NO SLEEP THERE COULDN’T HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR THE ORGANS OF THE BODY INVOLVED IN THESE MORE DELICATE ACTIVITIES TO REST, THOUGH NOT BY A COMPLETE STOPPAGE OF ITS ACTIVITIES BUT BY REDUCED FUNCTIONALITY.
NOTWITHSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE AND NEED FOR SLEEP, THERE YET COMES A NEED TO CONTROL THE NUMBER OF HOURS WE SACRIFICE TO SLEEP. SLEEP, EVEN THOUGH VERY IMPORTANT IS ABUSED WHEN GIVEN EXCESS ATTENTION. THE AMOUNT OF TIME SLEEP TAKES FROM AN AVERAGE HUMAN BEING IS CONSIDERED TIME WASTING, YET THE TEMPTATION TO GIVE MORE TIME TO IT IS EVERYDAY CHALLENGE.  THE FOLLOWING SET OF STATISTICS EXPLAINS BETTER:
  1.      A DAY IS EQUIVALENT TO 24 HOURS.
  2.   AN AVERAGE HUMAN BEING SLEEPS 8 HOURS OUT OF THE 24 HOURS OF THE DAY.
  3.   THE FRACTION OF 8 HOURS TO 24 HOURS GIVES 8 HOURS AS A ONE THIRD OF 24 HOURS.
  4. IF ONE-THIRD OF THE DAY IS GIVEN TO SLEEP AND BECOMES HABITUAL, IT THEN MEANS THAT AT THE END OF A YEAR, ONE-THIRD OF THE YEAR WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY GIVEN TO SLEEP.

USING THE ABOVE STATED FACT, IT CAN THEN BE UNDERSTOOD THAT IF A MAN LIVES 90 YEARS ON EARTH, HE SPENDS 30 YEARS OUT OF THE 90 SLEEPING. INVARIABLY, IT CAN THEN BE CONCLUDED THAT AN AVERAGE HUMAN BEING SPENDS ONE-THIRD OF HIS LIFETIME SLEEPING.
